Office 2024 Shows As Older Office Version
After installing Microsoft Office 2024, some users may find that it incorrectly shows as an older Office version, such as Office 2021. This usually happens because leftover license data from a previous Office installation remains on the system. Follow the steps below to wipe the old license data from your system.
-
Close all Office programs.
-
Open File Explorer and go to
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Office\LicensesNote: If you don’t see the
ProgramDatafolder, click on ‘View’ or ‘Show’ at the top of the File Explorer window, and then select ‘Hidden items’ to make it visible. -
Delete all files in the Licenses folder.
-
Open an Office program again. You’ll be prompted to sign in or enter a product key, select the option to enter a product key, and enter your key again to complete activation.
