You may see the Windows 10 0xC004F050 error code when the installed edition on your PC does not match the edition of the key you are using, the solutions to this are below.
- Check which Windows 10 edition you have installed
In the Windows Search Bar type in Activation Settings, hit enter to open the Activation window. Your installed edition is shown at the top of the window (highlighted in red below).
- If your key does not match the installed edition
If your key does not match the edition you have installed you will likely see the 0xC004F050 error code.
The solution is to do a fresh Windows 10 installation so you can install the matching edition on your PC. Alternatively you can purchase a key that matches the edition you have installed. Or if you want to directly upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Pro without a new installation, you can use a full retail key to achieve this.
During a fresh installation you can select the correct edition to match your key (highlighted in red below).
Select “Windows 10 Home” if you have a Home key, or “Windows 10 Pro” if you have a Pro key.
