You usually see the Windows 10 0xC004F050 error code when the edition of an OEM key does not match the edition of Windows 10 that is already installed on the PC, the way to check this along with the two solutions are detailed below.
- Check which Windows 10 edition you have installed
In the Windows Search Bar type in “Activation Settings”, hit enter to open the Activation window.
Your installed edition is shown at the top of the window (highlighted in red below).
If the installed edition does not match the edition of an OEM key, this is what is causing the 0xC004F050 error code.
- Fresh Windows 10 install
The first solution is to do a fresh Windows 10 install using the key you have so it installs the edition matching your key.
- Purchase a matching key
The second solution is to purchase a key that matches the edition you already have installed.
If you have Windows 10 Pro installed, you will require a Windows 10 Pro key.
If you have Windows 10 Home installed, you will require a Windows 10 Home key.
If you have Windows 10 Enterprise installed, you will require a Windows 10 Enterprise key.
If you have any other edition of Windows 10 installed, you will have to do a fresh Windows 10 install.
