How to fix Windows 11 0xC004F050 error code

You usually see the Windows 11 0xC004F050 error code when the edition of an OEM key does not match the edition of Windows 11 that is already installed on the PC, the way to check this along with the two solutions are detailed below.

  1. Check which Windows 11 edition you have installed

In the Windows Search Bar type in “Activation Settings”, hit enter to open the Activation window.
Your installed edition is shown at the top of the window (highlighted in red below).
If the installed edition does not match the edition of an OEM key, this is what is causing the 0xC004F050 error code.

  2. Fresh Windows 11 install

The first solution is to do a fresh Windows 11 install using the key you have so it installs the edition matching your key.

  3. Purchase a matching key

The second solution is to purchase a key that matches the edition you already have installed.

If you have Windows 11 Pro installed, you will require a Windows 11 Pro key.
If you have Windows 11 Home installed, you will require a Windows 11 Home key.
If you have Windows 11 Enterprise installed, you will require a Windows 11 Enterprise key.
